Instagram Professional Account
2 min read
Meta has decided to depreciate the Instagram Basic Display API and replace it with the new Instagram API. You can read the full blog post by them that was created on September 4, 2024.
Meta will stop allowing connections to the Basic API as of December 4th, 2024. To continue displaying your Instagram Feed using Feed Them Social you will need to migrate to the new method, which is rather simple to setup and had many benefits. We'll show you how below.
Unfortunately you will no longer be able to use a Personal account to display your Instagram Media on your website.
This new method requires your Instagram account to be converted to a Professional account, then you can choose the option for Creator or Business. If you are a content creator, musician or artists you might want to choose the Creator option. If you are selling items or trying to promote your business then you will want to choose the Business option.
Please follow the steps below to convert your Instagram to a Professional account. Once complete you will be able to display your Instagram Feed.
Convert your Instagram to a Professional account. #
- Login to your Instagram Account.
- Click the More menu option in the bottom left corner of your Profile then select the Settings menu option.
- Once on the Settings page scroll down near the bottom until you see the menu option Account type and tools.
- Now choose the Switch to professional account button.
- After choosing that option you will be prompted with an option for Creator and Business. Choose the option that best fits your use case.
- In this case I am choosing Creator. After reading the description click the blue Next button.
- Now choose a category that best describes what you do and then click the blue Next button.
- That's it, now your account is set to Professional and the account type is a Creator. If you are a business simply go back to step 5 and choose the Business option and follow the same steps to complete this process.
Now you can create an Instagram feed by clicking on the Login and Get my Access Token button from our plugin.
